Candyman (1992)

Based on "The Forbidden," a story by Clive Barker, Candyman follows the story of Chicago sociology graduate student Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) and the Candyman (Tony Todd), a ghost of urban legend.

At the intersection of 80s and 90s horror, this film focuses on marginalized social groups, a common theme explored by Clive Barker. It examines the ideas of racism and segregation in poor urban areas. This examination is sometimes a little inconsistent and over-reaching, but ultimately this is a thought-provoking piece of horror.
